Sleep Haiku

Sleep pulls and gains strength
like a coming storm or tide –

inexorable.

When pretending sleep
my boy's eyelids flutter

as his dimples show.

  1. These made me think a lot about genuine and pretend sleep. About the transformations in a persons being when they are genuinely asleep. Very interesting. Thanks for prompting the thoughts.

  4. I enjoyed these very much. I also looked at sleep in the manner of my son. I especially love your first haiku's use "pulls and gains strength."

oh, that's so true about sleep pulling like a 'coming storm or tide' - and I remember many occasions when I have tried to feign sleep and been betrayed by my face! i like your takes!

Egad. I don't know which is sweeter, the dimples, the poem the photo. The whole post is wonderful.
