New Year Haiku

Water in the street:
our sodden earth seeks to place
new tributaries.

And, just for fun, a bonus quasi senryu (not a kyoka, as previously thought... I'm still learning):

Will it be a year
crammed with danger and intrigue?
(Double-oh-seven.)

(Thanks to the women of One Deep Breath
for their continuing inspiration,
and to Manuel Kei for his playful spirit.)

In the first one, I briefly read "tributaries" as a form of the word "tribute," which put an intriguing slant to the 'ku. :-) It's lovely, IMHO.

And thanks so much for the laugh in the second. Also, the info on kyoka. I've printed the info and bookmarked the blog.

Word verify *zenhkqoj* LOL

It's raining today, the earth is soaked but thirsty.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your comment.

Even in New Zealand where it is supposed to be summer, it is trying hard to be winter :)
Your links are very informative, I will bookmark them.

Love the word play on "double oh seven" I was thinking about that eariler tonight, because my son and my husband went to the new Bond movie.

Good job!

I hadn't thought of this being the year of double=oh-seven until I read yours...it made me smile. Raining here today so the first is also appropriate.

Clever ku's. I like the first one and how it brings nature to the forefront of change.

Ooh, nice one. And thanks for the poetry form info...I see that I wrote a senryu rather than a haiku, myself!
