Snowdrops at first light
Gracing a dead-but-green fir –
Is this winter, then?
(Thanks to the women of One Deep Breath
for their continuing inspiration.
By now I think my neighbors might be wondering
about why it is that I lie down
on the (lately often wet) ground on Monday mornings...)
(Update: a second haiku on this theme is now here.)

Shelley,
Ah, indeed it is.
nicely said.

Yes, here, too.
My garden is finally white.
I don't know what winter is any more. I like the image of snowdrops at first light.
Lovely haiku - good question about winter, which these days seems to be nothing like any of us remember.
It's winter at my house today - I have icy branches too!
Well said:)
Winter here too (suddenly, at last).
Gives me great pause to reflect. Thanks!
Quite balmy here actually- but that's FL for you! Lovely picture and haiku...
So nice! So calm and peaceful. Do you really lie down in the grass every Monday? What a great idea! In fact, as soon as the cookies are done, I think I'll take the kids out to do just that, in the ice, no less.
I very much enjoyed my time here; as a poet and an avid reader, I found it both enlightening and enriching. Thank you...
"Snowdrops at first light" was just lovely Shelley.
That's lovely. I've embarrassed my son by lying down on my back on a path when we were out walking together - I wanted to photograph the top of a tree fern. Then I had a struggle to get up again :)
Yes, indeed. To lay down and see something different. On reflection, not always a good idea. :)
Wonderful haiku and photos! And I hear you--my neighbors are convinced I'm loco. The camera and my jammies--they seem to go hand in hand.

Yes I was taking pictures of snowdrops too. Nice contrast with the evergreens here.
I am still waiting for winter to arrive. All we've had are gale force winds and lots of rain here in cheerful Ol' England! I can just imagine the looks on your neighbours faces. LOL!
