Subtle Change Haiku

Browns on greys on browns
And the squirrels stopping mid-dig:
Remembering white.

Bonus haiku on the occasion of a 72 degree day, January 6th:

Lying on the earth
Like a hand on a forehead –
Checking for fever.

(Thank you to the women of One Deep Breath
for their continuing inspiration.)
(Pun intended.)

I know for certain that you wrote this in a small span of time which makes it even MORE impressive! Love the imagery and the sounds of the words...thanks for YOUR inspiration!

That's lovely and i can see the squirrel in my mid's eye. It reminds me somehow of my rabbit too!

"Remembering white." I am sure that is just what the animals are doing! Great line! And your second haiku, so good! So visual and so tactile!

A very warm day in January does make you want to check for a fever - but what a wonderful fever! Great poem!

I can just see the first haiku, for I have seen it over and over. You've captured the squirrel on its mission perfectly.

And the second, we cannot claim quite such a warm day, but much improved over the normal winter fare. I love your use of the figurative; I tend to be stuck in the literal most of the time.

Lovely poems, evocative of natural wonders and weird weather!

My garden is used as mixed up as your animals!
Some plants are starting early, and others are still going strong from last summer.

I love that second haiku, it pleases my imagination!

I could picture the squirrel in the leaves and I loved the temperature check in the second. Great job!

These were so lovely- I know how that squirrel feels.
My husband saw that it was 92 where we live- 92! Even in Florida, that is HOT for this time of year!

Wow. Both are great. Make me ponder. I've posted my first haiku for one deep breath today. Look forward to coming back again.
