Earth Day Haiku

Dirt beneath our nails,
we hum songs of praise and thanks

while planting pansies.

Guilt beneath our nails,
we plant pansies in the sun
at the asphalt's edge.

(Thanks to the women of One Deep Breath
for their continuing inspiration.)

Very strong pair of haiku. Thanks! (And the blue of the pansies ... delicious.)

I really like the contrast between the two. How often we think that because we do one good thing, that excuses us from worrying about the rest.
