Wildflower Haiku

Cornflowers leaning,
blown by perpetual wind –
hot rushing traffic

(Thanks to the women of One Deep Breath
for their continuing inspiration.)

(I saw these on the way into work this morning. At the end of the day, I walked along the shoulder next to the highway, waited for the light to stop the cars, and quickly took the closeup of these cornflower shots. Then the light changed and I took the one of the car zooming by. It was so bright I couldn't check to see what I'd gotten, and too hot to stand around for another try. Glad it worked out.)

PS: Happy Juneteenth! May the good news that has taken so long to reach you arrive today!

PPS: Bonus haiku!

Red-winged blackbird
at the top of a tree,
holding, balancing

(More thanks to friend R,
who watched this bird and told me
of its struggles on this windy afternoon.)

Awe... I did a post on Juneteenth. Happy Juneteenth to you too.

anddddd... your haiku reminded me of the early morning rush hour traffic while traveling from the rural areas of Texas to the city. The field view is nice but the highway traffic ain't no joke.

anyway with that said, well done!

I like the contrast in your haiku.

Nice image; interesting how the wind is present without being mentioned in the bonus haiku.

Cornflowers are these little warrior flowers- they thrive in the wildest of places! Two lovely haiku here!

I love the resilience of wildlife, it springs up in unexpected places and refuses to be bowed by the pressures we subject it too. Well captured here!

Braving traffic for a photo, not so sure it was wise, but I enjoyed the results.

We had stopped for a moment Monday to look up at and listen to a bird singing on the top of a tree in the mountains with the breeze swaying the tree. Your words captured it.

What would we do without these small bright spots in our day? Very lovely haiku.

I love the juxtaposition of nature with the urban, very true!

An urban delight, your photo and poem.

I really like your haiku -- both of them. And it's so cool that you went out of your way to photograph the cornflowers -- that is such a tribute to the importance and beauty of their existence. I love that. And the image of the red-winged blackbird balancing is lovely.
