stripping the trees bare. While their
roots hold on beneath.
Almost: a six-foot
branch blown free and falling to
earth, standing upright.

Both the wind and the roots are unseen - so this haiku is packed with unseen things. We had very strong winds here yesterday too, I saw the evidence on my walk today, having to navigate around fallen trees
