Unseen Haiku

Wind – breaking branches,
stripping the trees bare. While their
roots hold on beneath.

Almost: a six-foot
branch blown free and falling to
earth, standing upright.

(Thank you to the women of One Deep Breath
for their continuing inspiration.
Entry updated on 10-30-06 with a photo & new haiku.
"Back to Work" has also received a photo "upgrade.")

You've given us a great image of the power of wind - unseen itself, but it certainly makes its effects known!

Well done:)

Both the wind and the roots are unseen - so this haiku is packed with unseen things. We had very strong winds here yesterday too, I saw the evidence on my walk today, having to navigate around fallen trees
